Mont Blanc - Queen or Monarch

Mont Blanc, at 15,780 ft., could be considered the Queen of the Alps. This massif is circled by valleys in France, Switzerland and Italy. It contains five glaciers and more than fifty major peaks. This is our story as we hike the Tour Du Mont Blanc. We hope you follow along.

Lord Byron said "Mont Blanc is the monarch of mountains; they crown'd him long ago on a throne of rocks, in a robe of clouds, with a diadem of snow."

We are aging baby boomers, 65+ year old codgers, who enjoy walking/hiking. In 2013 I completed 420 miles on the Appalachian Trail. In 2014 for our 44th wedding anniversary we completed the Camino de Santiago/The Way of St. James (a walk of almost 500 miles) beginning in France and finishing in Santiago, Spain. We kept a a Camino blog here. This year we'll celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary with a much shorter trek at approx. 112 miles but with elevation changes daily that will make it more strenuous.

"Living a life is much like climbing mountains--the summits are always further off than you think, but when a man has a goal, he always feels he's working toward something." Louis L'Amour

Such a fresh fragrance this time of year and beautiful too!

Prayers

God, our Father,
may we love You in all things and above all things.
May we reach the joy which You have prepared for us in Heaven.
Nothing is good that is against Your Will,
and all that is good comes from Your Hand.
Place in our hearts a desire to please You
and fill our minds with thoughts of Your Love,
so that we may grow in Your Wisdom and enjoy Your Peace.  Amen

“In the name of God we go on this journey. May God the Father be with us, God the Son protect us, and God the Holy Spirit be by our side.

“Lord, be our guide and our protector
on this journey called the Tour du Mont Blanc.
Watch over us. Protect us from accidents. Keep us free from harm to body and soul. Lord, support us with Your grace when we are tired. Help us be patient in any trouble which may come our way. Keep us always mindful of Your presence and love.
Allow us to return home filled to overflowing with your love . Amen.

We saw this growing alongside the street on our walk.  A friend identified is as a Pea Vine.
